All about capacitors

Students will carry out the following tasks and present their research as a PowerPoint Presentation, which will be added below once completed

GCSE Electronic Products Year 10 Your task today is to work in pairs to do your research, on the following component: Capacitors 1. Know what a capacitor is. 2. Know the symbol used and the units of capacitance. 3. Know what a capacitor look like. 4. Know how a capacitor is made/assembled. 5. Understand what is meant by the term polarised and non-polarised. 6. Know what capacitors are used for. 7. Be able to calculate the time constant of a simple circuit. 8. Know how to calculate capacitors in series and in parallel. 9. Know what is meant by charging and discharging. Each of you are going to make a PowerPoint show and you must present your findings as follows: • It must include active links to any sources of information and images used in the Powerpoint. • • Find suitable YouTube videos to include into your presentation Any additional note must be included in the “click to add notes” part of PowerPoint • You must save your work as a .ppt or .pptx and you must print out you slides as “Notepages” • • At the end it must include a bibliography again with active links Email to the finished PowerPoint by the beginning of the lesson on Thursday 9th October 2008 • A paper copy is to be handed in at the beginning of the lesson on Thursday 9th October 2008 Ms C Hong Kong 9/30/2008 24
